This is a vintage pre-owned off-white jacket that is dated to April of 1968, right in the middle of the psychedelic era. It looks like something that one of the beautiful people would have worn. It has a cutaway Nehru style standing collar, easier to display one's beads. The jacket has padded shoulders, a three button hidden closure and long sleeves with two button cuffs. There is a faux flapped pocket at the right side, above the flapped pocket, which has an interior change pocket, and a flapped pocket at the left side. It is fully lined in white satin rayon or acetate.
Colour: Off-white towards a yellowish cream tone.
Fabric: Wool with a twill finish
Label: Supercraft Clothes Hand Tailored Garment of Hallmark Montreal
Tailor's label: stamped with the ACWA union mark used between 1962 and 1976 with typed “Supercraft Clothes Mr. Gilles Larocque, Apr. 22, 1968”.
Sizing: This was custom tailored, so there is no size label, and although this should fit a size medium, probably a size 36, maybe a 38, please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 17 1/2” across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 23 1/2” from the shoulder seam
Sleeves: 16” long
Chest: 40” around (20” pit to pit)
Waist: 38” around
Length: 28 1/2”
Condition: It has a pinhead sized hole at the left neckline (see last close-up photo) as well as two other smaller pinholes on popular the left sleeve. Otherwise, the jacket is in very good condition - with a professional pressing this will look great.
This jacket features perfect psych era style - I've never had a similar piece, so I think that finding a similar one would be very difficult. Given its scarcity, the tiny holes should be forgiven….
