Original antique folio engraving depicting cacti, spurge, and other plants native to Africa (Esula Tithymalus Africanus Spinosus Cerea Effigie, etc.). It is Plate No. 494 from the Dutch edition of Johan Wilhelm Weinmann's "Duidelyke Vertoning" published in Amsterdam in 1746. Weinmann's monumental work featured over 1,000 engraved and mezzotint plates of early 18th Century plants by B. Seuter, J.E. Ridinger and J.J. Haid after G.D. Ehret, N. Asamin and others. It was one of the earliest works to incorporate color printing, with each plate then beautifully finished by hand.
It an original hand-colored antique print on 18th Century hand-laid paper, not a modern reproduction.

Approx. 9-3/4" x 15-1/2" (sheet size)
Condition:
Very good. It is clean with wonderful original hand color.
It will be packaged in a sealed plastic sleeve and will ship rolled within a tubular mailer for protection.
