What is a Bentwood Ring?
 
I handcraft each and every ring here in the "bentwood" method.  The process begins by steaming a strip of wood until it is pliable enough to bend around a form.  This method orients the grain of the wood around the circumference of ring, producing multiple thin layers.  Not only does this make the ring extremely strong and durable by eliminating any exposed end grain, but it also allows for the natural beauty of the wood to show around the entire ring.  Once formed, each ring is meticulously sanded and shaped by hand.  If an inlay is included, the channel(s) is carefully cut by hand and the inlay is set.  Next, multiple layers of a durable and waterproof acrylic finish is applied and put through a multi-step polishing process.  Finally, for even more added protection, a natural wax is applied and buffed to a beautiful shine.

Do you have a wood type in mind but don't see it listed?  Let us know!  We are constantly testing new woods and materials.  If we don't currently have it, we can look into getting it!  Maybe you have a stone, seashell or beach sand popular from a family vacation.  We can take these materials and inlay them into your one of a kind ring.
 
Please note, in all wood species, color and grain varies from one piece to another.  Even inlay materials can vary in color from one batch to another (for example stone color).  Due to these variations, your ring will not look exactly like the rings pictured.  Some rings may be slightly darker or lighter, or show more or less grain pattern than those pictured.  If you would like your ring to be on the lighter or darker side, let me know and I will make every effort to accommodate.  All pictures however are a good representation of what you can expect.
 
Ring Size and Width
 
It is your responsibility to ensure that your finger is accurately sized.  I strongly recommend that you have your finger sized by at least one professional jeweler, if not multiple jewelers.  Fingers also shrink and swell, so being sized multiple times is a good idea as well.  I will make your ring in the size you specify, so it is extremely important that you take care in providing the correct size.  When having your finger sized, also take into consideration the width you would like your ring to be, as wider rings will fit more snug than narrow rings.  Most reputable jewelers will have various width ring sizers, so if you are wanting a wider ring, be sure to have them size your finger with a wider sizer.  Rings can be made in sizes US 4 - 14 in 1/4 size increments.
 
Ring width is a matter of preference.  On most rings, width can be from 3mm - 12mm.  Keep in mind that if your ring is to include an inlay, a narrow width could affect the design.
