Product code: Ostby Barton 10K popular Sapphire & Diamond Pin
Absolutely gorgeous antique Two Tone 10K bar pin with delicate filigree work, sapphires and diamond. This gorgeous pin was created by Ostby Barton and is stamped OB 10K. Ostby & Barton jewelry is known for being of high quality, but it is also desirable to collectors due to a very unfortunate association. Sadly, Englehart Ostby was one of the 1,500 people who died when the Titanic sank in 1912. His daughter Helene was on board with him. She survived after being forced onto a lifeboat while her father returned to their first-class cabin to retrieve a coat. Helene, along with her brother and his daughter, inherited Ostby & Barton. Helene joined in operating the company once she recovered from the heartbreak of losing her father in such a tragic way. The company continued to manufacture jewelry through the 1950s. Please examine all photos as this is an antique popular item and is sold as is. Box not included.
