Sylvia Leuchovius' joyous wall plate dish with bird and flowers in green and white. Motif in relief is a rare vintage item - series number: 555/800. The wall plaque was crafted in the Rörstrand studio in the 1970s. Leuchovius-typical expression! Maker: Rörstrand studio; Material Stoneware Condition: Excellent vintage condition without any chips or cracks, glaze shiny and fresh. Includes wall hanger.

The artist:
Sylvia Leuchovius (1915–2003) was one of Sweden's leading ceramic artists in the 20th century. She was part of the Nordic design tradition aiming for warm-hearted, humorous, and sometimes subtly ironic design. After her studies at ”School of Design and Crafts” in Gothenburg, Sylvia worked for the Rörstrand factory for more than 20 years. She became a prominent designer of figurines, wall plaques, and tableware – often with stylistic animal or plant motifs. Her wall plaques for Rörstrand were crafted in the 1950s–1970s during the golden era of Swedish ceramics. They come in all colors, shapes, and sizes but share the kindhearted and stylistic touch so typical of her design.
