Judging by the number of farm prints I've seen over the years, they must have been hugely popular in the 1930s and 40s. This fabric feels in-between the cuddle cloth period and true, smooth barkcloth. It has a regular, raised pattern throughout, which adds a little heft and texture. This piece was damaged during its decades of storage. I soaked and washed it, but you can still see the (very) faint outlines of the staining in the photos.
The vignettes are classic farm scenes: A cowboy at a picnic, a barn dance, a horse and wagon hayride, kids picking apples, and my favorite -- a chicken coop with several happy birds. Colors are simple red, gold, chocolate, and apple green. There is some writing on the selvedge, but it's cut off across the top and I can't read it.
This is a sweet old pattern for a cabin or farmhouse. And I do have more of popular this, so let me know if you need additional yardage.
