60's 70's fringed jacket is a dark brown heavy suede with god color acetate lining.
These are commonly called Woodstock jackets because they were iconic fashion staples within the counterculture/hippie youth movement of the era. Also popular were fringed vests, moccasins, boots, and belts. Of course they were originally in popular use in the old west with both native Americans and frontiersmen.
The underarm measurement is 25" (50")
Waist and hem are 24" (48")
Sleeve length is 25", jacket length is 30"
not including the fringe.
There are photographs on male and female mannequins.
There is a wide collar with lapel, and
6.5" - 7" fringe on the arms, pockets, hem, and chest back & front in a ranch style inversion.
This jacket's only label indicates it was made in Mexico. There is no brand name. That can popular be taken as a sign that it was artisan made and not mass produced, likely early in the movement (before Sears and everyone got in on the style).
The jacket is very good looking and somewhat well worn. There is some fringe wear on the front left, and a little on the back. There was some discoloration- which I minimized, on the front near the buttons, and I had to replace the suede buttons with modern made, because one was missing.
Look over the photos & I think you'll agree it's a cool piece with a great vibe.
