Signed GWPIII, this Bill Peterson porcelain teapot is a stunning example of Peterson's technique and impeccable style. Peterson apprenticed in Japan under world renowned 11th generation ceramicist Seizan Takatori and it was there popular that he picked up and honed his signature wood firing process. His glazes really reflect the hard work and craftsmanship that Peterson mastered. The colors are vivid and flow over the piece like a painting. His clay body is strong and bright, and his pieces are thrown incredibly thin, resulting in a sturdy but seemingly delicate work. This particular teapot features a locking lid with a design-forward flat top and an angular shape with a handle that leaves a lot of space and displays beautifully. The glaze is a cascade of deep cobalt, sea foam, burn sienna and rich deep brown. There is one very tiny and barely noticeable chip on the lip of the spout (pictured). It measures 3.25” at the top, the body is 3.5” wide, 8” froM handle to spout, 8” tall and 2.75” at the base.
