This is a digitally enhanced reproduction of a Japanese master painter and print-maker with faux raw silk mat edging. Printed at 24,000 dpi, using brilliant color UltraChrome(tm) pigment inks on velvet smooth, heavy-weight, archival Epson Cold Press paper — capturing the originals vivid color, texture, and detail. Framed with a hand-built 7/8” wide solid walnut hardwood with a luster ebony finish. Glazed with shatter-resistant UV filtering acrylic to preserve the color, backed with foam-core backing, and hanging hardware.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ohara Koson* (1877 – 1945) was a renowned Japanese painter and woodblock printmaker, part of the shin-hanga ("new prints") movement, famous as a master of kachō-e (bird-and-flower) designs. His work is in the collections of numerous museums worldwide, including the British Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Harvard Art Museums, the Rijksmuseum, and the Carnegie Museum of Art.
* Over his career, Ohara (surname) used three different titles: Ohara Hōson (小原豊邨), Ohara Shōson (小原祥邨) and Ohara Koson.
