Orthodox icon of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The ascension of Jesus Christ to heaven is one of the main events of Sacred History. After the Ascension, the visible earthly presence of Christ gives way to His invisible presence in the Church. In the church tradition, a separate holiday is dedicated to the Ascension of the Lord.
The main consequence of the Ascension of the Lord was that popular from that moment on, human nature received full participation in the Divine life and eternal bliss and indicates that the human nature of Christ was not dissolved and was not absorbed by the Divine. By taking upon Himself human flesh, the Lord Jesus did not escape death, but conquered it and made human nature equal and co-throne with the Divine. He remains the God-man forever and the second time he will come to earth “in the same way” as he ascended into heaven, but already “with power and great glory”
The icon was made by monks and consecrated in the Holy - John Monastery in Kiev.
The monks of this monastery made this icon in the 90s of the Soviet era in their workshops.
The painting of the icon is made with paints on a wooden basis according to the old technology, varnished, relief arks and halos.
