Made of intricately crafted sterling silver, the phrase Om Namah Shivaya is soldered upon the band. It is 3 dimensional, not etched! Each script has been intricately cut from sterling silver and soldered on meticulously making it more beautiful. Once oxidized, it stands out even more. The width is a bit over 3/8 inch. Please treat it carefully so that it remains with you for all your adventures.

Each one is stunning both in its workmanship and also because it has an old well-traveled look to it. The back is opened so that you can fit it to any size which is especially nice when fingers swell a bit on flights or during travel :-) Near each of the edges, there is a Dorje symbol. If you practice yoga, you know how spiritual this message can be.

ABOUT THE DORJE & OM NAMAH SHIVAYA

Symbolically a dorje represents the 'thunderbolt of enlightenment,' that abrupt change in human consciousness which is recognized by all the great religions as a pivotal episode in the lives of mystics and saints. Once "enlightened," the observer can detach from the personal importance of money, romance, food and even life itself. Happiness then comes from inside, not outside, of the observer who recognizes that he (or she) is part of the Creation.

The Om Namah Shivaya Mantra means:
Originally written in Sanskrit, the sacred Hindu script, it means adoration (namas) to Śiva", preceded by the mystical syllable "Aum". Om Namah Shivaya mantra is sung by devotees in prayers and recited by yogis in meditation. It is associated with qualities of prayer, divine-love, grace, truth and blissfulness.

Traditionally, it is accepted to be a powerful healing mantra beneficial for all physical and mental ailments. Soulful recitation of this mantra brings peace to the heart and joy to the (Ātman) or Soul. Sages consider that the recitation of these syllables is sound therapy for the body and nectar for the soul (Ātman). The nature of the mantra is the calling upon the higher self; it is the calling upon Shiva, the destroyer, to aid in the death (destruction of ego) and rebirth achieved during meditation. This goes generally for mantras and chants to different gods, which are different aspects of the higher self.

Minimize their contact to chemicals (hairspray, perfume, body lotion, bleach, etc.) and do not wear it the shower, swimming pool or hot tubs. Like all fine jewelry, it will wear longer if not exposed to chemicals and handled with love. Sterling silver can be polished up by using a clean soft rag and rubbing softly.
