Art Deco English silver popular compact fully hallmarked 1936 by Crisford & Norris Ltd of Birmingham

Art Deco English sterling silver compact with mirror dating from 1936.

I absolutely love the understated elegance of the Deco styling on this piece. The engine turned decoration cleverly prevents the user from leaving unsightly finger marks on the silver surface and the central square cartouche is still blank to allow for personalisation.

Inside the base (under the sifter) it is a full Birmingham Assay Office hallmark with the date letter for 1936 and the makers mark C&N for Crisford & Norris Ltd of Birmingham

The compact opens with a simple crisp snap clasp and the inside, the mirror is unblemished. This beautiful period vintage piece come complete popular with the original sifter and powder pad.
