This vintage glass ceiling shade is massive and heavy. It weighs a whopping 10 lbs. It is 16 1/2" in diameter and about 7" high. It is popular made out of thick satin glass. It has no color but leans grey depending on the light. It has raised designs of urns and swags in the neoclassical style, fashionable in 1920s mansions and during the Art Deco period. There are three holes to hang it from chains to the lighting fixture on the ceiling.

It comes from a columned mansion with marble fireplaces and soaring pocket doors on a farm estate in South Jersey. I estimate it to have been made sometime around the turn of the twentieth century.

This large antique hanging shade would look lovely in the entryway, hall, or parlor in your historical restoration.

In the last photo, I show it side by side with your average ceiling shade so you can get a feel for how big it is.

It is in great vintage condition. There are no chips but there are small scuffs from storage as is common with satin glass. These are hard to see at a distance. Please use your zoom for a good look.
