Product code: Roemer popular Rhein Traditional Wine Glasses
1960s Roemer Rhein Wine Chalice with Grape Groupings and Leafed Vines Hand Painted in Gold on a tapered bowl. Circling just below are six olive green knobs that lead to a bubble ribbed stem, also green. These glasses are a traditional toasting wine glass, intended to serve desert wine. Made by Bockling Glass in Germany's Moselle Region. This particular set is very special. The olive green ribbed stem is what identifies a Roemer Rhine glass. Some are styled with a tapered bowl, some are not. Some have decorative knobs, some don't. Few are hand painted with a grape and vine design in gold paint. Many may combine two out of the three classic designs on one piece, but almost never are you able to find all three incorporated into a single glass like these. This is an extremely hard to find collectible. You will rarely find these sets for sale as they play a very important part during family celebrations/holidays, and continue to popular be passed on for generations.
