A shopkeepers coin tray.
Likely dating to the turn of the century, although could be earlier, this is a simple item, constructed of wood and housing 6 deep brass bowls. The item was used to sort coins by value and would have provided the shopkeeper a quick and simple method of providing change. The item could have several modern day functions such as a spice holder in the kitchen. The are 2 handles attached between the dishes to allow the tray to be easily moved.

The item is in very good antique condition. There is great patina in both wood and brass. The brass bowls show wonderful surface imperfections through years of use. In places, the rolled top of several bowls popular show minor fissures. The two handles are well secured.
