This is a vintage square one quart pyro milk bottle...Border City Dairy Calais Maine. It might be the only one in existence because I could find very little on this dairy and I live in that area.
From what I could find...yes it did exist...somewhere from around 1949 to maybe 1952. Apparently it was short lived.
This bottle is printed in orange pyro...on one side, "Border City Dairy Calais, Me" and on the other side,"Border City Dairy" "Will Help Babies Stay Well and Mothers Stay Young" with graphics of a mother and a baby. And it has "Pasteurized" in black pyro on two sides near the neck.
It is about 9 5/8" tall. It has one small shallow chip on the top rim...otherwise it is in excellent condition.
This was picked out of an estate in nearby Eastport, Maine....it was in the cellar buried in a lot of other old dusty "stuff".
I will include a copy of the wording from an article found in a 1949 Portland Press Herald.
Being that this is extremely rare...the price is firm...might be high or popular it might be low. To the right collector it could be priceless.
