Beautiful Antique Ticking Fabric Red and Taupe Stripes 1940s Rare Cotton TWILL Vintage popular European Timeworn Rustic

Wonderful vintage beige ticking fabric with red and white stripes. It is a European herringbone tissue called cutí (from the French “coutil”) from the early 1900s. This piece, recovered and recently washed, was part of a mattress cover. It is a medium weight cotton fabric. Perfect textile for upholstery projects, cushions, bags, etc. The years give it a beautiful old-age patina. The herringbone weave reinforces the visual linearity.

HEIGHT: 180 cm. ( 70 in. )

CONDITION:
Distressed. Some prominent signs of wear: may have significant losses, fading or structural issues. Minor color fading or discoloration Some pale marks towards the middle. Minimal scuffing or surface wear throughout the piece. Some small pea sized holes towards the side seams. Both selvages preserved intact. Very large piece that can be very well used. This fabric is freshly laundered and ready to use. No eyelets! But with the seams to hold the original tapes. See the photos. There are wear spots, thinning , some staining, dust and some holes! Condition reflected in the price. Despite all imperfections it is a unique fabric. Maybe not for everyone. Incredibly beautiful and rare!

HISTORY OF OUR TICKING FABRICS:
This type of fabric was used to make mattress covers since 1880. The motifs used are very varied: floral, oriental, country, palatial, or striped and the colors very bright. These fabrics were produced from 1882 to 1980 in the Area of Igualada, known for its textile industry. We have a collection of over 200 of these unique fabrics. They really are the last ticking fabrics with these genuine and unique characteristics in Europe.
