Antique Vintage Rare Men's Black Underwear Pants / Kaufmann popular & Baer label for study, pattern, salvage, repurpose 1914-1925, Edwardian
Early 20th century long john pants in black knit cotton with.
Early 20th century long john pants in black knit cotton with their original store label still attached... a wonderful piece of American history. I don't find these often, especially this old as it seems they were worn until they were no longer repairable... these just happened to be tucked away in the attic anyway.
Waistband has 6 buttonholes- two at each side, one at center front and center back. As you can see, they are well worn with a large hole and other smaller ones as well.
Tag reads: "KAUFMANN & BAER CO. PITTSBURGH'S GREATEST STORE". With a little online digging I found that this was a store opened by a relative of the original Kaufman store in downtown Pittsburgh that was in business from 1914 to 1925. They erected a building that is now the Heinz 57 Center. Here are two references:

Approximate measurements, unstretched:
28" around waist
42" around hips
12.5" from center back to crotch
23" from crotch to leg hem along inside seam
30" from waist to leg hem along outside seam

As shown, they are very worn. They also have a musty smell... these are straight out of an attic. I will leave delicate laundering up to the buyer.
