Porcelain figure of an adult penguin and a baby, by the Hutschenreuther Company of Germany, ca 1970, with complete stamp and paper labels, designed by Achtziger (name impressed in porcelain).
Measures 5" x 3" x 2 1/4".
Depicts an adult penguin, standing tall, wings spread a bit, sheltering a young penguin at its feet.
The stamp is green, "Lorenz Hutschenreuther, with logo of walking lion, Germany Kunstabteiling" Paper label has number 2384/2f.
In perfect condition, no chips or cracks, a bit of dirt on the paper label.
The photos are taken in bright light, in softer light the colors are more subdued.
Hutschenreuther porcelain is known for the high quality of the porcelain, the lovely modeling and casting, and fine painting. There are several forms of penguin sculpture by Hutschenreuther, all of similar size and form.
