This is a pendant of Diana / popular Artemis, from Greek and Roman mythology, in sterling silver. The pendant is oxidized, with a satin finish to show her beautiful details. She is goddess of the sun, moon, and sky, shown here in hunting mode. Her bow and arrow are drawn but not yet aimed; a quiver of arrows on the ground by her foot. Before her sits one of her hounds.

Before she was Diana to the Romans, she was Artemis to the Greeks. Artemis was a fierce and mighty huntress in Greek mythology; eventually she became blended with the Roman Diana, as more of a kind and gentle-natured protector.

Wear her in whatever embodiment you prefer: goddess of hunt; deity of fertility and childbirth; mother of woodland creatures; queen of the heavens. Any of her mythologies will serve you well.

This pendant is cast from an antique button. The original design was created by a master French engraver. Armand Bargas was born in 1854, and died in 1941.

Measurements: 1 inch, or 2.5 cm, long, and 3/4 inch, or 1.9 cm, wide. About the size of a U.S. penny.
