PASHMINA OR CASHMERE

Pashmina wool is 100% wool sourced from rare Himalayan goats that produce a wool fibre 5x finer than human hair. Individual Pashmina fibres are anywhere between 10 - 15 microns. As a result of its delicate physical properties; it cannot be woven by machine. It is incredibly soft and also the warmest naturally occuring fibre in nature despite being exceptionally light-weight.

Cashmere is 100% wool from any animal that produces fibres which are between 15 - 18 microns. Since it's thicker than Pashmina wool it can be machine woven. It has a similar softness to Pashmina wool but although it's very warm, is not nearly as light-weight.

The two are often confused nowadays although, before the 18th Century, there was no such thing as Cashmere. Pashmina wool on the other hand has been documented as far back as 1580.
