The Baluchist tribes have their settlement area in northeast Persia and in north/west Afghanistan. They are encompassing through the wide range of their weaving products. In addition to weaving carpets, flat fabrics, bags, animal jewellery and pillows, they also produce salt bags.

The present specimen is a salt bag, which originates from the northern Afganistan and was knotted around 1900. It depicts a kind of water pipe made of geometric patterns. The piece impresses with its bright colours. There are five different colours: a deep dark blue, a warm brown, dark grey, beige and a warm bright pink. The braided degrees are usually completely preserved
