Dao or Cao Lan - San Chi Ceremonial painting paper are Taoist scrolls,.They are used in various ceremonies,during which they are hang on the walls of makeshift chapels at the priest's house,or exhibited outdoors in lesser numbers for certain rituals.
It is produced by Dao or Cao Lan painters ,the paper support being made in Dao or Cao Lan fashion,.The designs are made using a paper master stencil,which produces the major lines,drawn in black ink and forming the outline of the subject.The stencil is placed under a thin pieces handmade bamboo.The outlines are painted on this piece of paper,the coloured with natural dyes.
It is very rare now and very difficult to find in the village also.
