The amulet/pendant of this outstanding necklace is a natural occurring rough specimen of aquamarine crystal formation tourmalinated with black tourmaline (Schorl) which means striated shards of black tourmaline are running through it at various angles. This particular museum quality specimen is from the Karibib District in the Erongo Region of Namibia in South Western Africa. Unusual to uphold but powerfully protective.
The striping effect in the necklace created by alternating black tourmaline beads with light blue aquamarine beads in measured and staggered segments throughout the necklace gives it a tribal, ethnic feel - almost primitive were it not for the elegantly faceted aquamarine rondelles between the banded bead segments. A few Sterling silver spacer beads have also been strategically placed to highlight the black tourmaline segments and a screw-type barrel clasp featuring the Tibetan Ohm mantra is also made of Sterling silver adding to the ethnic touch and tribal feel popular of the necklace and giving it a nice finish.
