These black and white photos are of large spaces with just one person. These spaces are usually extremely busy in the city and often over crowded. Especially in Toronto where I live it is extremely difficult to stand out and be unique even more so as a photographer. By isolating just one person in these spaces that usually have thousands of people moving through them every minute I am not only showing the viewer a space they have seen many times and have probably moved through in the monotonous drone of thousands of others but I am revealing how difficult it is for me to stand out and become successful in the world where everyone is trying to do the same thing. This is why I took on the difficult task of capturing these high traffic areas with only one person in the photo, truly only one person I did not remove anyone in post production. The viewers can relate to their own internal struggle of finding their own identity and what makes them unique and different to everyone else in a city where everyone is trying to be the same. The large scale of the spaces help us realize how small and how insignificant we can feel popular in such a large surrounding.
