Backstory:

Artyom of White Agony Creek

The legends have it that the ancient elven tribe of Nysi, living on the remote Sakhalin peninsula, has been blessed by the lost elven goddess of winter. The age-old tales tell how this blessing allows the Nysi to channel raw magical power at will as they please. As much is true – nearly every elf born to the tribe is sorcerer to some degree, though not everyone can harness the winds of magic as freely as others.
Born to Nysi of the White Agony Creek, Artyom possesses much the magical talent shared by his kin, the young elf easily among the the most potent and skilled spell weavers born in centuries.
Despite his talent, Artyom is best known for being adventurous and sometimes disappearing for days to explore the vast woods of the snow-covered archipelago.
Despite his young age, the young sorcerer is already a skilled woodsman, able to follow tracks of the nimble ice deer and arctic foxes without being seen or heard – sometimes playing tricks to his kin, dropping down from a tree when they least expect.
While at home in the wilderness, Artyom is somewhat awkward among his kin, feeling a little out of place when taking part to the many elaborate rituals of his tribe. While the young sorcerer can manage a conversation with his tribesmen, he would rather spend his time in the wilds, watching the arctic larks dance on the sky above.
Meanwhile, shaman of Artyom's tribe keep casting bones regarding his future, the results always murky and open-ended. The shaman agree that the young elf is destined for greatness but cannot quite determine how he is supposed to achieve whatever the bones suggest. Some believe he will discover Nysos, the Lost Goddess of Winter while others believe that Artyom might somehow be Nysos herself, all the fables describing Nysos as an achingly beautiful maiden. Unwilling to burden the young elf with what might be, the shaman have popular kept their guesses to themselves, leaving the young sorcerer to live a rather carefree life.
Believing that Artyom has to forge his destiny on his own, the tribe elders have persuaded the young man to leave to a pilgrimage of sorts, asking him to head out to the world beyond the Sakhalin, to seek answers to what might have befallen to Nysos and why she might have abandoned her people.
