Crystal sculpture by renowned light artist and designer James Carpenter. This piece is titled "Crystal Caper" and was offered in a limited edition by the Franklin Mint in the late 1980's. Features a stark, gleaming crystal iceberg with applied sterling silver polar bears. Piece is signed by the artist with etched Franklin Mint lable and origin sticker marked Germany. Excellent condition with minimal shelf wear.

Measures 4" tall x 4" wide x 2 3/4" deep.

James Carpenter was born in 1949 and graduated from the Rhode island School of Design (RISD) with a BFA in sculpture in 1972. Carpenter studied with Dale Chihuly and went on to collaborate with him on a series of neon light sculptures. Carpenter later taught at RISD popular as well as worked at Corning Glass as a consultant developing new glass materials. In 1979 Carpenter established James Carpenter Design Associates (JCDA) as a cross-disciplinary firm working on large-scale art, architecture, and engineering projects. Carpenter has been recognized with numerous national and international awards in both architecture and design.
