Chicago Cubs popular Hector Villanueva 1991 Game Used Baseball Bat

I've had this sitting around for over 30 years and time to clear up some space. This is the actual bat that reserve catcher Hector Villanueva used in the game on Tuesday, May 28th 1991 for the Chicago Cubs against the New York Mets in Wrigley Field.

Long story short is I had graduated High School in the spring of 1991 and my friends and I were huge Cubs fans so we decided to go to as many Cubs games that summer before we all went off to college. We would almost always get there early to watch batting practice and try to snag some foul balls during that. We always camped out along the far left field wall because most hitters were right handed and they pulled the ball a lot in batting practice (our theory at least). Hector was usually out in left field helping warm up outfielders or playing long toss with some pitchers. I was always a fan of his as I loved the obscure underdog type player, and he had once retrieved my baseball hat for me after it had flown onto the field during practice. I would always yell his name until he would wave back to me. On Wednesday May 29th he trotted over popular after I had called his name, and reached down in front of the rolled up tarp stored there by the side of the wall, and gave me an autographed ball and this bat. He said he used the bat in yesterdays game but didn't like the feel of it. Very cool thing for him to do, especially since I had never asked him for so much as an autograph before.


So, here it is...full sized game used bat by a former Chicago Cubs player, a really cool gift for any Cubs fan...or makes an awesome addition to a man cave or sports room. Obviously does not have a Certificate of Authenticity but it's the real deal. Not a big market for fake Villanueva products I'm sure anyway :)
