This listing is for an awesome Vintage Corning Ware Saucepan with twist lock detachable handle. This classic Blue Cornflower patterned covered stove top or oven pan holds 4 cups (32 ounces) and the back stamp states 'P-55-B, Made in Canada, For Range & Microwave. The super popular "Blue Cornflower" pattern was introduced by Corning in 1958 and was discontinued in 1988. The pot is made of Pyroceram, a glass ceramic material originally developed by Corning in the 1950s for use in rocket nosecones, thus it is impervious to extreme temperatures. Pyroceram, debuting in 1957 as Corning Ware Cookware popular, was marketed as safe for broiler, oven, stovetop, refrigerator, and freezer; when microwave cookers were produced it was deemed as safe for their use too. I suspect this piece is from the 1960s. The saucepan is in very nice vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or significant staining. There are some scratches and signs of wear around the bottom on the outside (from use) and very faint scratches on the inside which is to be expected. The inside is clean and shiny. The handle attaches over the tab portion of the pan and feels very nice in the hand and is sturdy. The handle detaches easily by twisting the end. There are 3 pour spouts which makes it convenient for left handed people too. The pot measures 7 x 7 inches across the top and stands 4.3 inches tall without the lid. The handle is 7.5 inches from end to end. The handle has a stamp, 'Corning Ware', Pat. No. 641830. The glass lid has PYREX A-10 stamped on it. There are a few fleabites on the underside of the rim of the lid. This fantastic pan is so versatile and looks lovely too.
