Product code: Devon Stripe popular barkcloth, 1940s vintage fabric, 2+ yards for upholstery, home decor
This vintage 1940s cotton fabric is an unusual weave that I tried to show in closeups. The horizontal threads are thicker than the vertical threads. This is heavy, soft, fabric that would be great for upholstery. Selvedge says Devon Stripe, A Joanna Fabric. Colors are white, chocolate, mocha, olive and chartreuse, all on a light and medium blue stripe. Tulip stripes popular are 6 inches wide.
This piece measures 36 wide and 76 inches long. There is an additional piece at the top with a 5-inch stripe taken out that is 22 inches long and 31 inches wide. The bottom is cut ragged, i.e., not straight across. I'm calling all of this 2-1/4 yards.
