Kumihimo Dagger popular Necklace

It's an elegant beaded rope necklace that I created using a technique called Kumihimo.

This necklace measures 18 inches in length, allowing it to be an accessory that can be worn both under or over clothing.

Kumihimo is the ancient art of Japanese weaving performed on a mandrel to create an intricate woven networks popular of silk threads & cords.
As the weave begins, each bead is dropped individually from a pre-loaded bead warp following a design pattern.
The warps are rotated after each bead is dropped (creating a spiral rope), and the process continues until the desired length is achieved.

For this piece, I chose an 8 warp (strand) design using light copper colored C-Lon thread for durability.
Each warp includes size 11/o TOHO Seed Beads in Metallic Earthtones including bronze, copper, Merlot, & Olive colors. The mix gives the rope some dimension & texture.
I integrated copper backed crystal daggers and Miyuki drops into the weave to create an eye catching edging for the necklace.
Czech fire polish beads are nestled in between each dagger.

Copper colored trumpet shaped end-caps & a simple braided toggle provide the finishing touch to the necklace.
