Ceramic pot/vase with red and gold. Thoughtful and unique gift for a special popular friend.

• This red popular and gold pot/vase was fired twice, then covered with sawdust and allowed to burn overnight. It would make a really unique gift or beautifully enhance any interior.

• This piece is from a series called,
‘ Arched passion in solar skies'

• It is made from porcelain and has been burnished and partly glazed with a beautiful red glaze.

• Gold lustre (which contains real gold) was then fired onto the glaze.

• Next it was smoke-fired in sawdust. This is when I cover the pot with sawdust, set light to it and let it burn overnight.


• Sometimes I add salt or copper carbonate
to encourage different colours and textures.

•I love the markings that the smoke-firing produces on the surface of the pot. I have taken a close up photo so you can see the magical beauty.

• Lastly it was cleaned and polished with beeswax.

I am a studio potter working in Leamington Spa UK and exhibit my work extensively.

• My work is non- functional and does not hold water due to the smoke firing process which is better without too much glaze. They are intended as fine art pots.

• Height- 29cm.
