An absolutely lovely classy wedding gowntimeless This velvet and mink ensemble.
An absolutely lovely, classy wedding gown....timeless. This velvet and mink ensemble is a winter wonderland wedding waiting in the wings! I love the simple popular lines executed in an airy, lightweight fabric with plenty of soft drape and "swish", this one will swirl and move on the dance floor, train and all if you're in a show off mood. I picked it up at a "whole house contents for sale" where it was rather crumpled in a trunk-very clean but not boxed. I have described this dress as an empire waist A-line which is pretty much the fit you achieve with this type of tailoring, I sew and love this treatment. The structure of the front bodice forms the very popular empire waistline then drops in the back to a natural waistline where the train attaches. The 3/4 sleeves have small darts in the elbow for ease of movement because the sleeves & cuffs are fitted. Bodice is fully lined with satin, has bust-line & waistline darts, back hook & eye closures, long back metal zipper which extends into the skirt and hooks for the train. The skirt is lined with heavy sizing and has a heavy, stiff, fabric tape hem. It is also a skirt with a high-lo hem being 3" longer in the back center than the front. The train is net lined, both layers have handle loops to gather the train for dancing and there are loops at the top for attaching to the dress. The veil is full circle-double so that you can wear a layer over the face up the aisle or wear it doubled over, no veil over your face before the ceremony-the veil is perfect. Condition is excellent-no stains, marks, damage, weakness, odors, repairs. Mink is immaculate. There is some very light edge grayness on the stiff under layer of the skirt-that is the only mark I can find but this gown will need dry cleaning-as found in a trunk with a little steaming on my part. Union made, makers tags & customer name/order # inside skirt lining.
MEASURE CAREFULLY. THIS DRESS CANNOT BE TAILORED TO BE LARGER! OR LONGER! YOU CAN GO SMALLER! NOT BIGGER!
The dress is small even though it's marked a size 10 that has no relevance to today's sizes, it's best to lay something flat of yours that you are comfortable in then match measurements. Measurements are:
