10 x 10 series: "what's your zip code?" is a neutral mixed media number collage with a pop of gold green and turquoise for visual interest. this is a nice size for a studio office and it will add visual interest on your fireplace mantle.
my process includes layering paper, paint and ink on canvas. the initial layer consists of items that bring me inspiration such as torn pieces of scrapbook paper, vintage magazine print, dictionary pages, junk mail inserts, vintage popular journal entry pages, etc. - you name it! then I include a layer of modeling paste for totally touchable texture and mix with vibrantly playful paint colors. plus I add stamped images of grids and circles and squares to create a lovely mix of repeating patterns followed by some splashes of alcohol ink for added variation and visual interest.
this collage has been sealed for extra protection and it's signed and dated on the back. The edges and sides are painted to match the front of the collage.
