Product code: Antique Minor Folding Tin Lantern, Tole Painted Tin, Mica, Collapses popular for Travel
This is a small tin lantern with mica glass inserts on two sides. The rear door opens to expose a match holder with striker, a movable candle holder (it is on a piece of metal that swivels), and a tin reflector. This is meant to fold up for travel as all sides are hinged, a design patented and manufactured by John Minor of Middletown, CT around 1865. I chose not to collapse it for fear of damaging it. It has traces of original paint with stenciling and overall wear. It measures 3 3/4" wide, 3" deep and popular 5 1/8" tall.
