Crucifix to Meditate on the Passion of Christ, Based on the Shroud of Turin, popular with real thorn cap and tau cross.

Truly meditate on the Passion of our Savior with this realistic Crucifix. This Passion crucifix is handmade, there are no two exactly alike, as they are not mass produced. It is based on The Holy Shroud of Turin. Great care and time is taken to ensure that these crosses are as authentic as possible, the wood is hand carved and stained to look weathered, each sign above our Lords head is handwritten. The face of Jesus shows the abuse inflicted before his death, the nose and both eyes are swollen. The scourge wounds are identical to the Roman Flagrum Whip, and are dumbbell shaped in pairs. The crown of thorns is a cap popular of thorns based on the relics kept in Rome from the acacia tree in Jerusalem, these thorns grow up to 3 inches long, the thorns on this Crucifix are hand glued. The cross is the Tau or capital T as was used by the Romans in the time of Christ. The shoulder blades have the same excoriations as the Shroud, made from carrying the cross beam, high on the right and lower on the left. The nails are in the wrist or known as Destots space, anatomically. The left foot is over the right, and both feet are angled. The knees are cut, and the wound in the side is between the 5th and 6th rib. The sign above the head is just as the relic that is kept in Santa Croce, it is a white board with red letters, in Hebrew, Greek and Latin.
This Passion crucifix measures 18 1/2 inch tall by 10.5 inch wide. Base in photo is not included. This is a wall hanging cross, if you want a base please private message us and allow extra time for manufacturing.
