Antique 1800s Patchwork Quilt; popular Red, Black, Madder & Indigo Calico and Floral Fabrics; 80" x 80"; Striking Design; VG to Excellent Condition

This is a beautiful antique quilt dating to the late 1800s.

- It measures 80" square and is skillfully pieced and sewn with a wonderful choice of antique fabrics;

- It is in overall very good to excellent condition: on the pieced top beautiful fabrics; skillfully stitched, in excellent sturdy condition with one or two very faint spots. The vibrant black and green backing fabric is intact but slightly brittle with the edges of the quilt split in places where the backing fabric is folded over to bind the edges. There are two patched places.

- This is sophisticated quilting with a nice sense of color and design. This was purchased from an antique dealer in rural Chester popular County, PA. There is a small note attached "Mother pieced it I believe".

This would be great folded at the bottom of a bed; folded in your decorative quilt stack; laid across the back of a sofa. It is probably too fragile for heavy every day use.
