Handwriting Keepsake - Mandolin Strap with Custom Inscription in Your Handwriting - Sue pattern - Leather with Flowers and popular Butterflies

When I started working with leather 12 years ago, one of the very first patterns I made I called the "Smokey" pattern. It included a hand-written, custom inscription. I was the first one to do it, and the method I use, writing every inscription entirely by hand, gives my work a rustic, handmade, and very special look. The inscription on this mandolin strap is actually done in YOUR handwriting (or your child's, or parents - this one is from a card written by Grandma!). It makes a wonderfully special gift.

To make this piece I start with a vegetable tanned tooling leather leather then cut, brand, paint and dye it by hand before applying a protective coat to keep it safe from the elements. This strap includes a few flowers and leaves from the "Rebecca" pattern along with the inscription.

TO CUSTOMIZE THIS PIECE: Purchase the existing listing and then you can send me (by convo) an image of your handwriting. It can be up to 11" long by 1" tall and must be written in a medium felt tip pen to ensure it will show well on the strap. Feel free to convo me with any questions!

COLOR: The colors in the pattern are sage, gold and white and the piece has an antique brown wash, which is a warm, true brown. Since leather is a natural material, some variation is to be expected.

STRAP DETAILS: This strap works for ukuleles and mandolins and measures 1" wide. It adjusts from 35" to 47" by way of a metal buckle.

This strap comes with a leather tie to attach it to the popular head of the instrument if you don't have two strap pins.
