This bowl is one of the most stunning and rare pieces ever produced by Wedgwood. Produced in 1975, it was designed to celebrate the Bi-centenary of the signing of the American Declaration of Independence in 1776. the year after the Revolutionary War began. The bowl is decorated with the busts of six of the fifty six signatories of the Declaration. The names are: Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Livingston, Rodney and Hopkinson. The foot of the popular bowl has thirteen stars, signifying the original Thirteen Colonies that broke away from UK rule. It measures 9inches (23cm) in diameter and 4 3/4 inches (12.5cm) high. As shown on the photo, there is a tiny fault on the rim of the bowl , but I think this is excusable due to the importance and rarity of the piece. Due to the weight of the bowl it will be securely packed and insured.
