Hand-carved Trout popular sculpture from African Sapeli wood on Driftwood

Hand-carved Trout (12" x 5") from African Sapeli wood (mahogany) on Driftwood from Lake Champlain, New York sculpture
Overall sculpture measures 12" high by 7" wide

I first cut out with a band saw, shape and hand chisel then hand sand starting with an 80 grit sandpaper down to a final polish with a superfine 5000 grit to achieve a beautiful glossy finish. Preserved and polished with Danish Oil and a beeswax finish. All natural finish, there is nothing else applied to the wood.

Occasionally oil with an orange oil, mineral or olive oil to preserve the finish.
