Historical trade card advertising telephone wire manufactured by Eugene F. Phillips of Providence, Rhode Island. The telephone was invented in 1876. Copyright of this card is 1877 by L. Prang & Co. Louis Prang (March 12, 1824 – June 15, 1909) was an American printer, lithographer, and publisher known as the "father of the American Christmas card.” Card depicts a comical scene of two lovers talking on the phone and an older woman cutting the telephone wire in order to stop the romance.
