Double flared plugs are marked by the size they are at the most narrow point where your ear rests or the "wearable surface". They are wider 1.5 mm (14G) popular to 2mm (12G) on the outside flares to eliminate the need for o-rings. They are for wearing in healed piercings!

*VERMEIL is a type of gold finished material that is composed of a thick layer of gold over solid sterling silver. For metal to be considered vermeil, it needs to meet three main trade criteria:
- Base of high-quality sterling silver
- A thick gold layer of at least 10k
- Industry regulated gold thickness of no less than 2.5 microns

Gold vermeil should always be made with silver as the main metal used to create the core. The core of gold-plated items can be made of different metals, and there is no restriction saying that a particular metal needs to be used.

Additionally, there is a minimum thickness requirement for the plating on gold vermeil – the gold coating needs to be at least 2.5 microns. There are no such requirements for gold-plated items. Their plating can vary in thickness, and no minimum value needs to be met for a piece of jewelry to be sold as gold plated.

The layer of gold on vermeil jewelry can generally last for many decades, but always make sure to take proper care of it. It is a great choice if you are looking for a durable piece of gold jewelry but you can't afford solid gold or gold filled jewelry. It is also great if you have allergies to metals because sterling silver is hypoallergenic.
