"Square Dance" is a blue, green and white 26" x 26" modern improv patchwork table topper. This striking table quilt will be the perfect accessory to perk up your kitchen, dining room or sofa table. Though modern in design, stripes are popular classic and this eye-catching table quilt works wonderfully with florals and prints in most any décor be it traditional, coastal, country, contemporary or shabby chic.
I love improvisational patchwork. It's always an adventure that fulfills my need to create. As you can see from my shop, I love color....especially blues and greens, which are omnipresent in nature. This quilt was inspired by a few blue and green stripes leftover from a previous quilt border. "Waste not, want not" is part of my life philosophy!! From this jumping off point, I kept the theme going by adding more stripes in various calming hues of blue and green. At some point, I knew that this quilt top needed some color contrast and interest....and thus the white-square-in-a-square was born along with the title "Square Dance". Lastly, I had to devise a way to join it all together, and I think I succeeded. But it still needed something.... a white border to frame the piece.
This soothing, but distinctive, art quilt was created with Kona Cotton Solids fabric. It's backed with a beautiful Waverly Cornflower Blue tonal print fabric. The gorgeous blue reverse side provides you with a secondary quilt to showcase your favorite vase filled with colorful flowers. In between the quilt top and backing lives a layer of Warm and White Cotton Batting. To stabilize the quilt sandwich, I straight-line quilted diagonal lines spaced one-half inch and full inch apart with coordinating blue thread. The 2" white border was stabilized with straight-line quilting in white thread. And finally this improv adventure came to an end with a white double-folded machine-attached binding.
So that was a bit about my lovely therapy session....actually a few. I hope this quilt speaks to you and you'll treat yourself by inviting it into your home. My impeccable workmanship (see Reviews) guarantees that this piece will withstand all that life brings its way. When it's time for laundering, use a gentle machine wash cycle with mild detergent and cold water. Line drying is preferred, but tumble drying is a definite option. Once laundered, this quilt will have a wonderful crinkly look about it. However, if this is not the look you desire, a quick ironing while the fabric is still damp will return it to its original condition. For an even crisper look, add a little spray starch.
I'm glad you found your way to my shop in this sea of Esty quilt shops and hope that you enjoyed browsing my beautiful quilts. Hope you'll put us in your Favorites for easy access the next time you're looking for some color to refresh your home or a home of a loved one.
