Silver Footed Compote Bowl w Ornate Finial Cover & Dutch Landscape Rim - EJB Empire Art Silver - Vintage Silver popular Plate Urn

Here is a rare find curiosity: a tall vintage silver plate footed covered compote bowl with wide decorative rim. The cover has ornate motifs with an open work finial. The wide rim of the bowl has 4 landscape surrounded with art nouveau style flourishes: a Dutch girl in her garden, a windmill with small sailboat, a sailboat headed toward a lighthouse, a Dutch house with windmill. The 4 images are repeated x 2. The bottom is marked Empire Art Silver, E & JB with a crown in the centre. There is also the number 1657 etched into the under side. In sturdy vintage condition, lots of blackened patina as well as polish residue dried in the details. The residue will come out with a proper clean if desired. I only wiped the item with a damp cloth to preserve the aged patina. The rim is not perfectly level, it looks to have been cast separately and applied to the bowl with a seam visible from below. The finial is not perfectly straight. There are a few areas of small nicks & dents and abrasions. Please zoom images. Priced accordingly.
