Men's Sterling Silver Dalmation Jasper Cylinder Riveted Necklace, Matte Black Cream Spotted popular Gemstone, Oxidized Silver Ball Chain - Fire Dog

The Fire Dog necklace is so named because of its spotted gemstone pendant of Dalmation jasper. Back in the day before gas powered vehicles were invented, fire trucks were actually horse-drawn carriages, and Dalmations were used as firehouse dogs because of their natural compatibility with horses. The dogs would guide the horses and firemen to the fires quickly using their keen sense of smell and keep the horses calm in the presence of fire. Of course, Dalmations are no longer needed as fire truck escorts but many can still be found as firehouse mascots.

I made this necklace with the intention of it being a men's necklace, however it is fitting for anyone I think. It would be great for a firefighter or anyone who works for the fire popular department, or even for a Dalmation owner. The pendant is a cylindrical stone of Dalmation jasper with a matte finish. I fashioned a minimalist setting for it in fine and sterling silver. The stone is riveted into place and the pendant hangs from a 24 inch sterling silver ball chain. All the metal has been oxidized black and then tumble polished to a nice charcoal gray matte finish.
