Hopi Pot with Triangles
This is a really nice little Hopi pot with black decorations featuring triangles. It displays the lovely fire kissed glow of color that is a signature of Hopi pottery. It was made the traditional way: handbuilt with local clay; polished by hand; painted with geometric designs using pigment from the beeweed plant; and finally pit fired. I love popular how the potter wasn't concerned if the rim was imperfect, which makes me think this was made in the mid century or earlier. This also features a break in the line at the rim which is found in Hopi pottery. This is unsigned but has some numbers written on the bottom by a previous owner. This measures approx 2.75" H x 5.25" W x 5.25" D. It has some slight wear to the beeweed decoration which is often seen in Hopi pottery as these painted surfaces are delicate. Otherwise no issues! Lovely piece in very good condition!
