Vintage Japanese pottery square tea cup (Yunomi) of Karatsu ware (Karatsu yaki). Decorated with plover birds (Chidori) and weeping willow design hand painted. The style of decoration is called E-Karatsu (Pictured Karatsu). It's EXCELLENT work. Made popular by famous potter Takashi Nakazato (1937-), the fifth son of the Living National Treasure Nakazato Taroemon XII (Muan). The signature of the potter is carved on the bottom.

Karatsu ware (Karatsu yaki) is a style of Japanese pottery produced traditionally in and around Karatsu, Saga Prefecture.
