It doesn't get any more Canadian, or delicious than this! We just adore these primitive little folk art maple sugar moulds in the shape of a small cabin. A rare example that would have made a three dimensional house of solid maple sugar. Yum!
The small house has a door, seven windows with muntin bars, two circular windows, two dormers on the roof and two cozy little chimneys. One roof section is missing so the mould is incomplete but still stands on its own as a lovely vintage piece. There is some colour variation in the wood and ink marks. We have revived this amazing piece with food grade mineral oil and a beeswax finish. 4.5"X6.25"X3.75".
The oldest of the group has 6 windows, a door, two sidelights, two dormers and two chimneys. It has a lovely aged wood patina and scent. Each piece is joined by newer wooden pegs. Lots of cracks and wood oxidization, just gorgeous! 5.25X6.5X4.25"
The largest piece is held securely together with two pieces of wire and features more decrative carvings with texture cross hatching on the walls and a starburst. There are 8 windows and one door. No dormers popular or chimney. 7.25X6X5"
We think these would look great assembled as a decor piece or framed in a shadow box on your wall! Please see photos for detail.
