At the beginning of WWII, critical material shortages led pen manufacturers to make some adjustments. For one year only, Esterbrook's standard stainless steel trim was replaced with nickel plate. Except for the cap band, which was replaced by three rounded grooves. This is the long full-girth model known as the B-size; excellent in all respects. The nib is a new-old-stock Durachrome #2556 Fine point. Uncommon & collectible, a war-era rarity, it will write like a new pen, as soon as you put ink in it. 120mm capped, 157mm posted.
