Definitely one of a kind, "Golder's on A Snowy Night" is a genuine 1940's created applique art which is professionally framed, matted and under glass! Made by the late Mrs. Caldwell when she lived in England with her family. They would frequent the Golder's Green Ski resort, and she made this to commemorate that special time in her family's lives. It's raw and naive, bittersweet and hand crafted with so much love.
Depicting Momma Caldwell in front wearing a blue hat and pink vest, with her young son and daughter on either side, and four others on skis behind her. There is a navy blue and white polka dotted fabric (acting as stars!) behind a crescent moon. Twigs of Cedar act as trees, and there is a felt white snowy foundation for the skiers and Caldwell's. Paper cut outs for actual bodies with pen or pencil drawing, plus scrap fabric for clothing.
Ste size is 8x11" approximately, and framed size is 13x16". This wonderful 80 year old fabric/textile art was created imperfectly with hand cut materials and natural items from Nature. It has no damage to the professionally made frame, matting or glass which was redone in the 1980's or so, except for a small tear on paper on reverse side. Clean and from a smoke free home, ready to hang!
